Stephen Colvin, executive vice president, is responsible for overseeing CNET Networks' Entertainment and Lifestyle brands, which includes leading properties such as GameSpot, TV.com, MP3.com, FilmSpot, CHOW, and UrbanBaby. Previously CEO of Dennis Publishing, the publisher of Maxim, Blender and Stuff magazines, Stephen brings more than 20 years of media and brand experience in U.S. and international markets.
As CEO of Dennis Publishing, Stephen launched and developed brands such as Maxim, The Week, and Blender magazine, and expanded the company's U.S. operations from four people in a small New York office, to almost 300 people in six U.S. cities. Today, Maxim remains the best selling men's lifestyle magazine in the U.S. and the world. During his time at Dennis Publishing, Stephen also expanded the business from magazine publishing to include a significant internet and mobile business, successful radio and television productions as well as branded restaurants, lounges, and hotels.
Stephen's first business in the US in 1996 was publishing the critically acclaimed Blender CD Rom magazine—a pioneering attempt to publish an interactive magazine on CD Rom. This business was morphed into a successful interactive advertising agency called Dennis Interactive, of which Stephen oversaw the sale of in 2000.
Both Advertising Age and AdWeek magazines have recognized Colvin as Publishing Executive of the Year. In addition, he was named a Top 40 Under 40 Executive by Advertising Age and Folio Magazines.
Stephen lives in Bronxville, NY with his wife and three children.
